We’ll meet at New Oxford’s town circle and take a group photograph at 10:00 AM. After a few words of welcome, we’ll begin our 1.6 mile journey by heading east on Lincoln Way East to see numerous homes of various time periods. After crossing the street, we’ll enjoy other architecture as we head back into town.
A slight sidestep onto High Street will take us to one of several churches we will view during the day, as well as the very finely restored 1887 original borough building, which housed the sheriff, jail and fire company.
We’ll stay close to the local railroad tracks back to the Lincoln Highway, where we’ll enjoy a number of blocks filled with wonderful homes in Queen Ann, Federal, Victorian and Gothic styles.
Our path and the information found here are based heavily on the “New Oxford Historic Walking Tour” pamphlet published by the Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Parking: Parking is free on the streets of New Oxford. While there is parking on the perimeter of the square, this area has a two hour time limit. Side streets do not have the time restrictions.
