The Before Shot
The Before Shot
I often find it interesting to see "before and after" views showing how a photographer works with a photograph before coming up with a finished view. As Friday's post is a bit more processed (for lack of a better term) than some, I thought I'd post the original version.
The photograph in today's post is taken directly from Lightroom after opening the raw file. While there is minor cropping in the completed version, a bulk of that is a direct result from working to correct some of the lens distortion created by the angle of the shot.
In this original, it's obvious that the steeple and windows appear to bow inward to the top center of the image, a common problem when shooting buildings from ground level. After lessening the vertical perspective issue somewhat, I also worked with the tones of the image and added some additional texture, as seen in yesterday's photograph.
Speaking of adjusting images, I participated in Jason Moore's most recent "Points of View Project" in which different photographers share various concepts on processing a common original image. You can view the original file and four versions by clicking here.
