Shooting Back
Shooting Back
One of our traditions at our photowalks is to have our photowalkers “shoot back” at me while I take our group photo. I definitely get the better end of the deal.
Scott Fredericks, the Minister of Music at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, started off our day with a demonstration and brief discussion of the famous Austin organ, including hearing and seeing samples of its 14,341 pipes. A fascinating tour behind the scenes and into small passageways led our participants to the hidden pipes that make the instrument sing.
After an hour or so at the church, our group moved across the street to Hanover's historic Sheppard Mansion, originally a home to one of Hanover Shoe Company's founders and now one of Pennsylvania's great restaurants. Chef Little and staff had prepared three dessert tables for our photography and followed up with a sampler plate for each of us. Chocolate, peanut butter, carrot cake… Amazing, as always.
Some of our walkers began their trips home, while a dozen or so of us took a one mile loop around the downtown area, ending where anyone in Hanover should, the Famous Hot Weiner (Yep, I spelled that correctly.) for a suitable post-photography lunch.
After hosting five walks, it's safe to say that photowalkers are a terrific group of people. Thanks to each of them for a great day and particularly for supporting the care and restoration of the Austin organ.
